AI Usability Testing

AI usability testing evaluates how easily users can navigate and complete tasks within a product, with artificial intelligence handling the moderation, the analysis, or both.

Participants are given specific tasks, and they work through them; friction points get identified. What's different is the facilitator. Instead of a trained human moderator running each session, an AI moderator observes, prompts participants to think aloud, asks follow-up questions when someone hesitates or takes an unexpected path, and flags recurring issues across all sessions automatically.

It is especially useful for testing product onboarding flows, evaluating navigation and information architecture, identifying error-prone interactions, and running usability checks before major product releases.

AI usability testing complements quantitative data (like analytics and heatmaps) by explaining why users drop off, get confused, or succeed. It answers the "why" that click-tracking alone cannot.
