What is AI User Testing?
AI user testing is the practice of using artificial intelligence to conduct, moderate, and analyze user testing sessions, giving product teams moderated-quality research insights at unmoderated speed and scale.
In a traditional moderated user test, A human researcher schedules sessions, facilitates each one individually, watches recordings afterward, manually codes findings, and writes a report. That process takes weeks and limits how often research can realistically happen.
AI user testing compresses the entire cycle. The AI moderates every session simultaneously, analyzes recordings in real time, and delivers synthesized findings automatically as sessions complete.
What makes AI user testing genuinely different from older automated tools is depth. Heatmaps and click tracking tell you what users did. AI user testing asks them why through real-time follow-up questions that surface the reasoning behind behavior, then synthesizes those explanations across all participants to identify what matters most.
It's not a trade-off between scale and depth. It's both. Teams that previously had to choose between ten deep moderated interviews and two hundred shallow survey responses can now get conversational depth from large participant groups without the scheduling, logistics, and analysis overhead that made that combination impossible before.
