Automated Transcription

Automated transcription is the real-time or near-real-time conversion of spoken audio from user testing sessions and interviews into searchable, readable text done automatically by AI rather than manually by a human transcriptionist.

In user research, transcription has always been a necessary but painful step. Before you can analyze what participants said, you need it in text form. Manually transcribing one hour of session audio takes two to four hours. Multiply that across twenty sessions, and you've created a full week of work before analysis has even started.

Automated transcription eliminates that entirely. As sessions are recorded, the audio is transcribed in real time, so when a session ends, the text is already there. Researchers can search it, highlight it, pull quotes from it, and feed it into thematic analysis immediately rather than days later.
