Automated User Research
Automated user research refers to the use of technology, including AI, machine learning, and workflow automation, to streamline or fully automate parts of the user research process that were traditionally performed manually.
Automation can be applied at multiple stages of the research lifecycle: participant recruitment and screening, session scheduling, question delivery and moderation, response collection, transcription, analysis, theme detection, and insight reporting. Depending on the tool and method, automation can handle one of these stages or all of them end-to-end.
Automated user research does not eliminate the need for research expertise; it amplifies it. Researchers still define objectives, choose appropriate methods, and interpret findings in a business context. What automation removes is the manual overhead of repetitive, time-consuming tasks that slow research cycles and limit how often teams can run studies.
